Archaeology

Alpine’s Archaeology Program provides archaeological resource surveys, technical assistance, project reviews, ownership-wide records searches, geo-spatial data-base/inventory compilations, securable user friendly “hard-copy” records inventories, pre-field research, and archaeological report production to foresters and other resource professionals.   Its purpose is to implement a program of identification and management for archaeological and historical resources located within project areas subject to various cultural resource protection regulations.

The Alpine Archaeology Program has one full-time professional archaeologist on staff.  Two full-time positions are filled at the technician level as well.   Also, CDF Archaeologically Certified forestry technicians are utilized, whenever practical, for their intimate project area knowledge and their ability to identify potentially significant resources on the ground during project planning and implementation.   Operations are based out of field offices close to project areas and out of Alpine’s home office in Anderson, CA.
